Tell us about your story, how did you start your business?

I’d been working downtown in non-profit, and distinctly noticed the lack of really great, healthy options. I kept thinking about it — I wanted to open an environmentally responsible restaurant that acted as a community hub — where people can feel confident in our sustainability, and feel good about what they’re eating.

We were very lucky - people were excited about an option like this, and we began to see regular customers. We were able to expand to catering and working with third party vendors like Ritual.

Did you have any concerns when first hearing about Ritual?

Ha, Ritual seemed too good to be true! When we first launched with you, we were thrilled at the concept, but it was more of a corporate catering program. Years later, Ritual is still our favourite third party vendor — we love that we have easy access to interact with your team.

How is Ritual working out for your business now?

We’re very grateful for Ritual - it brings in new customers, keeps our regulars coming back, and is a huge part of our sales and revenue; we actually get more orders via Ritual than all our other platforms combined.

What’s the biggest value add Ritual has brought?

The biggest value for us has been introducing us to a network that we didn’t have access to. Ritual brings in new customers through Ritual Offers, and they keep coming back.

Ritual also adds value for our customers — it gives them an easy way to order and pick up food, which gives us another way to get food to customers in the way they want it — and that’s the most important thing for us.

Anything else you’d like to add? General advice or learnings?

It all comes down to having a strong team, treating your employees well, and listening to your customers to give them what they want. I made sure to believe in what we were doing, because I knew it would become my entire life. Last, but not least, be flexible! You’ll always have to adapt and change, and that’s a good thing.
